B Family at Lincoln Center {New York City}

B Family at Lincoln Center {New York City}featured

Every autumn from September to November, I spend a ridiculous amount of time in Central Park for family portrait sessions.  I’m an expert by now, and I only wish I could see the path my footprints have made in the past four years.  Although it never gets old to shoot in Central Park, when I asked where to meet the B family for their family session, the response “Lincoln Center” made my heart skip a beat.

If you’ve never been, it’s a magical place.  There’s a giant fountain in the middle of this sprawling, open square, and every child I’ve ever been with sets off in an all-out sprint the moment they see it. The Met, the NY Ballet, and the NY Philharmonic are all here, and for a place in the heart of it all,  it’s somehow always so quiet and peaceful.  The uniformity of design and materials, the creamy travertine that bounces gorgeous golden light everywhere, it’s a dream for a photographer who loves architecture and the arts as much as I do.

I find that my lens is so often drawn to the little darlings in the frame during family photo shoots.  They always steal the show.  But this time?  It was mommy who ended up front and center this time (my choice, not hers, of course!), and I love the story this photo shoot tells. This gorgeous friend of mine is one of the kindest, sweetest, most genuine individuals you’ll ever meet.  She always looks amazing (her little ones do too!), and she is always so calm, collected, and pulled together, no matter what.   She can do it all, while encouraging those around her with a smile on her face and style points too.  She and her husband make an incredible team in this crazy city, and scrolling through these images, along with the laughter and joy of a happy family, you’ll find a love story too.   Any couple who can make parenting two little darlings under the age 2 of two look effortless and glamorous in New York City deserves a medal.  And the gold goes to …
